Music Styles Debate: The Church Constant

This was sent to me by a member of our church. He found this quote while reading "Warm Hearts and Saddlebags", Journal of Rev. Jeremiah W. Cullom 1828-1915. He was a Methodist circuit riding preacher. The following entry was made right after "[he] took [his] place in the Springfield pulpit":

"Wednesday Nov.3, 1875. In my study this morning I have been taking a survey of the field before me. There are many complications. My membership I am grieved to say are divided into many factions. Shall I succeed? I am seriously concerned for the result. We have a membership of 119-all told. There is a split in the membership on church music. Some say dash that old organ out of the house. Others say our church music is an improvement on the past, and we cannot get along without the organ and choir. I hope to make no blunders. My hope is in the blessing of God on honest work for His cause...."

Oh, when will we learn that debating music styles is totally missing the point? The issue is singing true biblical texts most specifically cross-centered texts.
